Duo López de la Osa

The López de la Osa Duo has been performing continuously since 1997, always focusing on original repertoire for guitar and piano, spanning from the Classical period to the 21st century. Their programming is always dedicated to a good stylistic interpretation and the presentation of lesser-known chamber works that deserve to be heard..

In more than twenty-eight years of work, they have performed concerts in venues across Spain (Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, Casa de América, Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Madrid, Universidad La Salle, Casa de Cultura Carmen Conde, Fundación Carlos de Amberes, Universidad San Pablo CEU, Fábrica de Cristales de la Granja, Auditorio Al-Artis, Centro Cultural Galileo, Ateneo de Madrid, Academia de las Bellas Artes de Sabadell, etc.); Italy (Forli, Sant'Agata Bolognese, Fermo, Forlimpopoli, Assisi, Santa Teresa di Riva); the Czech Republic (Prague); Poland (Tychy, Rybnik, Tarnow); Portugal (Aveiro); and Palestine (Jerusalem, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Nablus), where they have received applause from both the public and critics. RTVE has recorded and broadcast their performance of La Antequeruela by Spanish composer Rafael Rodríguez-Albert, along with the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Youth Orchestra and conductor Carlos Cuesta. Additionally, they have been invited to give masterclasses in Italy and Spain. Their upcoming engagements will take them to Lisbon, Italy, and the U.S., as well as various concerts in Spain.

Together, they have carried out various research projects, always resulting in publications, such as the first-ever edition of the complete string quartet works by composer Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga, edited by Joaquín Pérez de Arriaga, where they were responsible for the entire musical revision using the composer’s sources and manuscripts. They also carried out the revision and edition of Las Parejas by Luigi Marescalchi, which, alongside the works by Luigi Boccherini, were included in a recording made for the bicentennial of the composer from Lucca by the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Youth Orchestra. Additionally, they interviewed Joaquín Rodrigo for the Concerto magazine. Their latest musicological work has been the revision of the Overture Op. 20 by Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga, recorded and performed by the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Youth Orchestra.

In 2009, Rita Maria Fleres, Italian pianist from the famous guitar and piano duo Sicca-Fleres, donated her entire personal library of works for piano and guitar, as well as her historical fortepiano from 1820, to ensure that her legacy would be disseminated and preserved. Among the important materials are manuscripts and works of great interest, yet unknown, which has led them to create a study calendar for the interpretation and recording of the received legacy. Upon the pianist's death in 2016, they were invited to perform the tribute concert held in 2017 in Santa Teresa di Riva (Sicily), the city where she was born and spent her last years after an intense and significant international career around the world. They are working on composers such as Belaubre, Santórsola, Torresan, Rota, and Fürstenau, with some works by these composers dedicated to the duo.

Both have been artistic directors of the International Meeting Ciudad de Majadahonda in the piano and guitar specialties, and of the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Youth Orchestra, while also carrying out intensive pedagogical work. Pablo teaches at the Enrique Granados Municipal School of Music in Madrid, and Pedro at the University of California, Riverside.
