Pablo López de la Osa
Was born in Madrid and he began his piano studies with Hungarian pianist Arpad Bodó, with whom he completed his higher education. He has received lessons from Laura Díaz, Josep María Colom, Joaquín Achúcarro, Luca Chiantore, Tiziana Moneta, Andrzej Jasinski, Anthony Spiri, Ananda Sukarlan, and Iván Citera, complementing his musical studies with a degree in Geography and History with a specialization in Art. Additionally, in 2013, he received the Diploma of Advanced Studies in the PhD program in History and Musicology from the Autonomous University of Madrid with his thesis Order and Disorder in the Documentary Sources of the Figure and Work of Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga and from the University of Aveiro in the performative specialization in 2017 with his thesis The Use of Dynamics in Spanish Piano Music during the First Half of the 19th Century: Between Local Specificities and the Incorporation of Foreign Models.
As a performer, he has appeared with the orchestra of the Conservatoire Henri Dutilleux, Clamart, Paris, and with the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Youth Orchestra of Majadahonda, Madrid, giving concerts in cities across France, Spain, and Italy. Founder of the latter in 1994, he has also performed as a soloist or harpsichordist in Baroque and Classical repertoire in cities such as Castagneto Carducci (Italy), Seville, Mérida, Burgos, Valladolid, and in venues like the National Auditorium of Music, Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Majadahonda (which he inaugurated in 1998), the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, Casa de América, Víctor Villegas Auditorium in Murcia, and the Lope de Vega Theatre in Valladolid, among others. In 2016, he collaborated with the National Theatre Company, performing in Hedda Gabler by Ibsen under the direction of Eduardo Vasco.
Since 1997, he has formed a duo with guitarist Pedro López de la Osa, with whom he has performed concerts in Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland, Portugal, and Palestine. Since 2014, he has been working regularly with pianist Julio César Setién, performing music for two pianos and four hands, with a notable performance at the Ateneo de Madrid in their most recent engagement. He is also collaborating with violinist Miren de Felipe, delving into the lesser-known Spanish repertoire for piano and violin from the 20th century.
He has published articles in the specialized magazine Concerto, in the magazine Cuatro42, and a musical review of the string quartet works of Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga for the Polifemo publishing house. Additionally, he collaborates by writing for the seasons of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Majadahonda.
López de la Osa is regularly invited to participate as a juror in various national competitions, as well as to teach chamber music and piano at different institutions such as the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in Palestine and the Corso Estivo di Corvara in Italy.
From 2016 to 2024, he was the secretary of the European Piano Teachers Association of Spain, collaborating in the creation of competitions, contests, and courses. He is currently the head of studies and a teacher at the Enrique Granados Municipal School of Music in Madrid.

Pedro López de la Osa
As a professional guitarist, he has focus on chamber music, forming two successful duos with pianist Pablo López de la Osa and guitarist Paolo Benedetti. He has also collaborated and performed in Spain, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Palestine, Ecuador, Costa Rica, the U.S., and Poland with the Mirja and Aquà quartets (Italy), soloists from the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Chamber Orchestra (Spain), Latitud Cero (Ecuador), ESNCM Quartet (Palestine), UCR String Quartet (U.S.); with soloists Grace Marín, Adele Posani, Eduardo Fernández, Alessio Nebiolo, Enrique Santiago, Enrique Rivas, and Adain Pendleton; as well as with the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Chamber Orchestra (Spain), Bethlehem String Ensemble (Palestine), EMAI Orchestra (Costa Rica), Collegium Musicum (U.S.), and the Angelo Masini Philharmonic (Italy) under the baton of conductors Vicente Martínez, Alessandro Ardizzoni, Carlos Cuesta, Barry Sargent, Michele Cantoni, Jean Maumené, Rogerio Budasz, and Ignacio Yepes. He has recorded for Radio España, Canal 7-Costa Rica, and RTVE, and has given masterclasses as a guest in various countries such as Costa Rica, Italy, Switzerland, Ecuador, Palestine, the U.S., and Spain. Among the awards he has received for his teaching are the Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of California, Riverside in 2023 and, in 2016, the Special Award from the Academic Council of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in Palestine for his committed and impressive development of our institution since his arrival.
In 2016, he was awarded the Dean's Distinguished Fellowship Award from the University of California, Riverside, where he defended his doctoral thesis titled: Insile and the Spanish Insiled Composers Under the Franco Dictatorship (1939-75) and Democracy (1976-19), under the supervision of Walter A. Clark. He has presented papers at various conferences in the U.S., Spain, and Australia. His research has been recognized with several awards, including the UCR Emeriti Association Graduate Student Award (2024), California Relief Fund for Artists and Cultural Practitioners Award (2022), The Anthony Ginter Award (2021), The Ignus Dahl Award (2021), The Dissertation Year Program Award (2020), and The Manolito Pinazo Memorial Award (2019), as well as several grants from institutions such as the Gluck Foundation, AIE, Center of Ideas and Society, and the Mutua Madrileña Foundation. He is also working on his next book: Other Perspectives on Rafael Rodríguez Albert, a Republican Composer Beyond Composition.
López de la Osa has published articles in journals such as Concerto, Cuatro42 Music Journal, and Il Fronimo, and some of his pedagogical works have been published or performed in Spain, South Korea, Colombia, Italy, Palestine, Honduras, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and England. He was also part of the editorial board of Cuatro42 Music Journal in Madrid for six years. Along with pianist Pablo López de la Osa, he has prepared and published critical editions of works by Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga, Luigi Boccherini, and Luigi Marescalchi. In 2024, his critical edition of two chamber works for piano and strings by Rafael Rodríguez Albert will be published by the ONCE Foundation.
Pedro López de la Osa completed his degree in guitar at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid under José Luis Rodrigo and his Master's in chamber music at the Girolamo Frescobaldi National Conservatory of Music in Ferrara (Italy) with Tiziano Mealli and Stefano Cardi. His encounter with guitarists Betho Davezac and Eduardo Fernández has been essential to his training. He also obtained a degree in music education from La Salle University in Madrid with pedagogues Raquel de las Heras and Francisco Cañizares, as well as a Diploma in Advanced Studies from the Autonomous University of Madrid with Germán Labrador. Additionally, in 2007, he won the Joaquín Rodrigo Chamber Music Prize at the Música en Compostela courses at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He has taught at the Tamara Rojo Municipal School in Villanueva del Pardillo (Madrid), the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in Palestine, Pomona College, and the University of California, Riverside, where he is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Spanish Studies.
